So many people I meet and talk to are afraid of the sales and selling process because they feel it’s somehow beneath them. If you have the right answers to the right questions the process can become simpler and not as frightening. I contribute on many boards, including Reddit and several Facebook groups.
Last week I asked for questions related to he small business selling and this are some of the questions I received.
-
1) General Sales Related concerns
-
2) Cleaning Company who thinks “branding” is the answer but doesn’t have a budget – my answer may surprise you!
-
3) Virtual Assistant company who wants to go upscale but is afraid to compete on anything other than price.
You can read the original questions and my answers here on Reddit.
My response on YouTube is just below. I go into much more detail here….

Has Coach lost his mind?
So for the last few days the football world has been fascinated by all the moves of NFL’s free agency. Lots of sports talk on ESPN, Sports Radio, Satellite radio and countless offices around the world. Even in my house with 2 young complete sports lunatics they are asking – WHAT IS CHIP DOING? As a life long Eagles fan, I too am wondering.
But this morning I got it – he’s really looking at this like a business. Much like Ray Kroc did with McDonalds or Howard Schultz with Starbucks – he has built a system, believes in the system and is putting the players in place to make the system succeed (or fail) based on his beliefs.
I, for one, am of the belief that he will be successful, just as business’s who have a system are. It’s one thing to be lucky, another to work hard, and a completely another realm to work hard on the things that matter, get results and are proven to win.
Be a winner – build your system for success.
BRAVO Chip! I am looking forward to your call!

If you know me personally (both currently and in my past) there is one thing you will always know about me – I’m always looking for an angle or a way to grow. Personally and Professionally.
That’s the difference between an owner and an entrepreneur. I am lucky enough to work and socialize with both types of business owners and although I understand the whole owner thing, it’s just not for me.
Here are some observations about owners:
-
They enjoy their lifestyle, car. membership at the club, etc.
-
Love to tell their stories about what they have done (yes they look at the past)
-
Fall back to their comfort zone in times of adversity
-
Look to themselves to complete everything because no one else get’s it
My thoughts on Entrepreneurs:
-
They love what they do – everyday at home and work.
-
They love to tell stories about what they are going to do and are committed to making it happen.
-
Are passionate (sic – crazy!?!?)
-
Look to the future with a willful abandon
-
Sometimes fly from one subject to the next.
OK – what about the successful ones? THEY HAVE SOME OF BOTH!
-
Sometimes they dive into a problem and sometimes they delegate.
-
They understand everything about their business but don’t necessarily have to do everything all the time.
-
They talk about the past to help them get to the future.
-
They jump around but are smart enough to surround themselves with a team that will
